Opera Australia - Fledermaus Tickets![]() Champagne, anyone? Charge your glasses and put on your dancing shoes as the world’s favourite operetta waltzes back into town. The debonair David Hobson makes a welcome return to the State Theatre in the central role of Eisenstein, alongside Antoinette Halloran and Taryn Fiebig, and the award-winning Opera Australia Chorus will bring the house down with their all-singing, all-dancing display. But you know it is going to be a really good party when the star turn is none other than the de-licious, de-lovely Yvonne Kenny. Her performance is guaranteed to stop the show. It’s New Year’s Eve. Our hero Eisenstein is off to gaol – all his incompetent lawyer’s fault, of course – but he is determined to fit in one last party. And what a party it is! Count Orlovsky’s place is a riot of glamorous guests, rousing polkas and dreamy waltzes, not to mention lots and lots of champagne. Meanwhile Eisenstein’s wife is on the warpath, his maid is on the make and Dr Falke is determined to have his revenge… Johann Strauss’s blissfully silly operetta bowls along with style and a great sense of fun in Opera Australia’s celebrated production set in 1930s New York.
